automatically delete every post after his or was I an additional target?

I don't think so. Meaning, yours shouldn't have been automatically swept up with his. That's my impression, anyway.

Any reply to a post is deleted recursively, there is no way around it as far as I know.
So every indent under a post is removed as the replies aren't allowed to something that doesn't exist. Just the nature of the program I believe.
