have to tell you. off the line from 0-60 srt8 kept right up.after that bye bye . jeep had no chance. for a 4,800lb. vehicle the 6.1 hemi is a 4.7 truck i think. has anybody ever raced an srt8 jeep?

Default aerodynamics really starts to kick in above 60mph giving the RS4 a bigger advantage...

got a similar result a while back against my gf who was driving my ML63 versus me in the RS4, but it was a much closer race and in fact she got the jump (ML63 does 0-60 in 4.5 by simply mashing the throttle from idle) since I value my clutch and didn't do the "optimal" high rpm dump to get a decent launch in the RS4. It was pretty much neck and neck until she backed off once we got slightly past the posted speed limit.

drag coefficients...
RS4: .31
Jeep SRT8: .37
ML63: .37

Default have you had to replace the front airdam yet?

apparently they're easy to muck up...ditto the 300 SRT-8.

Default No, she is a very careful driver thanks to me. Now if I can only get her to stop speeding....

I've read many stories about people messing up the front end of the SRT8's, but she's coming from a TT and understands how to watch curbs, parking spots etc.

Default Jeeps turn into bricks @ 60...

even my 1994 5.2L Grand Cherokee is quick to 60, but acceleration slows pretty rapidly as speeds increase from there... The SRT8's got another 150hp and is more aerodynamic, but it's still just an aerodynamic BRICK.

The SRT8 slows down at around 80, but never feels like a brick

Default Re: raced my freinds jeep srt8

would love to be able to race my rs4 against my jeep, but i'd need someone besides the wife driving the jeep as she wouldn't do it. suppose i could take both to the strip this summer to see what happens. advertised quarter mile times are pretty similar. i've seen real world qtr mile times from the jeep in the low 13s even 12.9x on rare occasions. not sure what real world times people are seeing from the rs4, but from some quick checks it looks like low 13s?

i'm on my second jeep srt now and have owned one for the past 2 years. i driven it VERY hard in many conditions and did a ride along with a pro driver at the srt track day and it's pretty amazing what that thing can do. add in touch screen nav, remote start, ipod aux in and few other little things and at times i wish i drove it full time instead of the wife having it

Default Kinda like the F4 Phantom, aeordynamic properties-wise... :-)

They said the F4 was proof that you could even make a rock fly, just by strapping an engine on to it.
