Default are you looking to change the seats for weight savings? Because this car is just heavy, just

changing seats doesn't make a difference.

you can shed about 100 lbs by switching seats....that's significant.

Default I have a set of recaro sportster cs...

I actually placed them on manual audi a4 bottom frames. It was not really for weight savings at first but for looks, although the weight savings is pretty significant just from lugging around the old seats from the upholstry shop to my house.
Here's a preliminary of the passenger seat. The upholstry shop is working to smooth out the leather in some of the wrinkled spots and cleaning up the leather.

Default here's what I would do...

...the guy who built that 25th anniv B7S4 with the MTM s/c, etc. (AW feature car)...he had aftermarket seats. I'd look him up and see what he did.

Default Re: Recaro aftermarket...

I have the Recaro sport toplines in my car. Recaro will supply resistors for the side airbags but you will still get an airbag light from the weight sensor in the passenger seat. Audi does not sell the sensor separately so you will need a seat rebuild kit to get the sensor($500),take the sensor pad out of the stock seat, or get a sensor pad from a wrecked Audi.I'm getting a pad from a wreck but in the meantime it's "cover the red light with a piece of electrical tape".Sport Toplines are heated and ventilated w/ leather/ alcantera inserts.

Default Do the recaro resistors...

fit as a plug and play? Also, how long has the passenger weight sensor been around for Audi? The reason I ask is because I took the base frame from a 2002 a4 and maybe there is a sensor there back at the upholstry shop.

The recaros are plug and play in a 2006 or earlier. On my 07 RS4 one of the connectors had been switched from male to female - we spliced in the one from the stock seat.Don't know how long the seat weight sensors have been around but you'll need one from 05.5 up (B7 )
