Report: Track day with milltek non-res catback only and use of pagids for the first time...
Well after burning through several sets of oem front brake pads and finding them effective but wasteful (each set would last 1-2 days of lapping at most), I've finally put on a set of Pagid RS14 blacks for my latest day at the track. They are great! The calipers and rotors are stock with a fresh flush and fill of motul RBF600 and the whole setup exhibited strong and reliable braking for all my sessions, including an extended 40 minute session where I simply lost track of time because I was having too much fun before realizing that I should probably pit-in and give the car a rest. The brakes were so strong in fact that it easily over-powered the stock pirelli pzero rossos. I had to be careful with modulating the brake and only had to apply about 2/3-3/4 pedal force otherwise it would start to lock-up the brakes and induce the ABS to kick-in. The best part is that even after plenty of time on track (7 or so long sessions and two tanks of gas), the Pagids still had well over half the pad material remaining, and probably closer to 2/3rd's. Unfortunately, I didn't have a thickness guage to measure this at the time. Verdict: A+ highly recommend Pagid RS14's on the RS4 with stock brake system for track duty.
Lots of compliments on the Millteks on track from spectators and fellow drivers that heard it blaring by as they gave me the point-by pass. Some were awed by how loud it sounded at full steam yet exotic and refined at the same time. Some commented on how they could hear the exhaust from the paddock even when I was on the back straight. And someone jokingly commented that the exhaust was so loud that "I could tell you got on the throttle too early coming out of turn 10" to which I replied of course "quattro bish!" From the driver's seat the sound of the V8 is simply intoxicating when run hard like this. At the end of the day, my only complaint is that the milltek tips started to discolor and turn a gold color. I'm not sure if this is just a superficial coating on the tips that burned up resulting in the discoloration but I'm going to pick up some stainless/chrome cleaner to see if comes off later. I ran the stock exhaust on several events and never experienced this discoloration on the tips. Any ideas? Anyone from stratmosphere or milltek care to comment? Verdict: A- great sound, noticeable power gain on the straights, but why the heat discoloration on the tips?
Overall, the best day on track I've had so far with the RS4... now I need grippier tires that will fit the stock 19's.

Wow Craig was right regarding the discolorization
Regardless I'd probably order the Milteks<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/33277.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/33277.phtml</a</li></ul>

Just the front. No need for race compound on the rear on this car...
I'm on my 2nd set of front rotors, 4th set of brake pads, lots of track time, and almost 10k miles on the clock and still on the original factory brake pads on the rear and it looks like there's still slightly less than half of the pad material remaining. With a front weight bias and the engine mounted in front of the front axle, the RS4 simply does not burn up the rear brakes no matter how hard you try. Perhaps if you keep the traction control and ESP on (which can use more rear brakes) it would but I doubt even that is much of a factor.

actually, the pagids are a more aggressive compound than stock and will wear the rotors quicker...
during normal low-heat use or when not bedded-in properly.
I swapped the stock pads back in this morning after enough of the deposits got cleaned off by the pagids in the cold phase. These pagids would probably eat up the rotors over time under normal street driving conditions.
