Since this is a new market for us and a new forum for myself I will rundown how our group purchases work.
Step One - Interested participants will send information via email to us so we can gauge the interest in the purchase to lock in pricing. This is generally a week long procedure.
Step Two - We lock in a price based on the number of interested parties and send an email to all interested buyers with pricing that includes shipping to their location.
Step Three - We take payments from buyers. We generally set a week time frame on sending payment to be a participant in the group purchase. Once we have collected the proper number of payments we process the complete and total order in bulk to our supplier.
Step Four - We wait approximately 2-3 weeks for the parts to arrive at our location via air freight. When the parts arrive in bulk at our location we send out each individual order and provide tracking information to each buyer.
Step Five - All the RS4 owners finally get the proper steering wheel for the amazing Audi they have bought
During this entire set of steps I send out update emails to the entire group of buyers. You will be notified when we hit pricing marks via email and on the forum. You will be notified when all payments have been received and the order has been processed to our supplier. You will be notified when the bulk shipment to our location departs from our forwarder to our location. You will be notified when the bulk shipment arrives to our location and your order has been sent directly to you with a tracking number.

The steering wheel is a direct fitment for the US spec RS4 B7 and the airbag will work with your US airbag control module. Use of the buttons is up to the installer of the wheel in determining their use and function.
If you have any questions or comments please let me know either here or via email. Hopefully we can hit the 20+ mark for the best pricing and get folks setup with this great steering wheel on the RS4 like it should be from the factory!
Thanks,

Did you check the compatibility with the US airbag systems?
All B7 steering wheels and passenger airbags usually have 2 airbag igniters per airbag (2 stages), these come with airbag control module of generation 9.41. The b6 models had generation 8.4, which usually only had 1 igniter per airbag (1 stage).

I think I'll wait out and see how the guinea pigs sort out the button functionality...
and just pay retail later. I don't want to risk paying for a steering wheel I wouldn't install because of compatibility issues since I'm quite fond of using the steering wheel buttons.

Here's a rundown to show how all this works...
Let's take an '06 A/S4 as an example.
US '06 A/S4 Airbag Part Number
8E0 880 201DH - Airbag
Euro '06 A/S4 Airbag Part Number
8E0 880 201DH - Airbag (Latest P/N, 6/05 Build->
US '06 A/S4 Control Unit Part Number
8E0 959 655H - Control Unit (FOR ALL WHEELS)
Euro '06 A/S4 Control Unit Part Number
8E0 959 655G - Control Unit (FOR ALL WHEELS)
US '06 A/S4 Cancelling Ring/Clock Spring Part Number
4E0 953 541B - Cancelling Ring with Slip Ring and Steering Sensor (FOR ALL WHEELS)
Euro '06 A/S4 Cancelling Ring/Clock Spring Part Number
4E0 953 541B - Cancelling Ring with Slip Ring and Steering Sensor (FOR ALL WHEELS)
US and Euro Airbag Harnesses
4F0 971 589A - Harness
4F0 971 589B - Harness (Tiptronic)
So if you follow the above you see ONE difference, the control module. The airbag, cancelling ring/clock spring and harness are identical. So what you see in the above is that the US and Euro use all the same components with different controllers. The same is true of the RS4 B7, BUT we do not get the flat bottom steering wheel option so I can't just compare the European airbag part number with the US spec airbag part number as it does not exist in the US.
In Europe you can get an RS4 with the same exact wheel we get stuck with. It uses the same cancelling ring/clock spring, harness and controller as the sport wheel with the round airbag not available in the US. The RS4 B7 US and Euro spec models regardless of what steering wheel they have contain the same cancelling ring/clock spring and harness. The US and Euro have a different controller for the region, NOT for the airbag as shown above. So if you are following this here this shows that US and European airbags, cancelling rings/clock springs and harnesses are identical however the difference is in the control unit which if you compare the Euro RS4 B7 that has the standard wheel we get here in the US use the same airbag with different controllers. Just for more data:
Euro RS4 B7 Airbag Part Number
8E0 880 201DH - Airbag (Non Sport Wheel ONLY)
Euro RS4 B7 Control Unit Part Number
8E0 959 655G - Control Unit (FOR BOTH NON-SPORT and SPORT)
Euro RS4 B7 Cancelling Ring/Clock Spring Part Number
4E0 953 541B - Cancelling Ring with Slip Ring and Steering Sensor (FOR BOTH NON-SPORT and SPORT)
Maybe that was a bit convoluted? Regardless, from the data I have from part number comparison I see no reason why the European airbag for the flat bottom wheel will not work properly with the US spec RS4 B7. On other models with the same cancelling ring and harness it should also work as well as the difference is the igniter setup. Our US cars have been dual igniter for some time, in Europe we see that crop up 6/05 build and newer. So airbags post that build date from Europe will work with US spec dual igniter controllers.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
