yes. i know. devils advocate question for myself. and i know i could do one or the other eventually (while i am still young), but i thought i'd inquire from the very varied, eclectic personality types on this forum.

I spent a nice chunk of my life in the US Marines and if I ever paid to climb anything again I will seek immediate help.

btw, you have to realistically consider this possibilty...
...you could pay for the trip, and not make it to the top. It's probably one of the easier 19,000 ft peaks to climb, but by no means easy. Start by climbing Mt. Whitney (14,494 ft) or Mt Ranier (14,411 ft) or another peak of that ilk that you can basically climb for free. Then think of the next 5000ft being twice as hard as the first 14,000 on Kilimanjaro. $15k by no means guarantees you'll summit.
