RS4 spare tire?
Which spare tire would you guys recommend? Wouldn't want to get stuck far out on the way to Tahoe... These two sources came up in previous discussions:

* <a href="http://genuineaudiparts.com/">genuineaudiparts.com</a>

Extra OEM Wheel
I picked up an extra OEM wheel (under $350 from Riverside Audi) and am throwing one of my off-season tires on it. Throw that and a jack in the trunk for road trips...

Re: RS4 spare tire?
I use a space saver spare tire from a mercedes e55. Since it is 17" I have to use a small spacer and slightly longer wheel bolts. It will only fit on the rear ... So if I get a flat in the front ... I have to move a rear wheel to the front and use the spare on the rear. I keep it is a box strapped down in the trunk. It works for me.

I had an OEM wheel and tire tossed into the deal & bought a aluminum jack from harbor freight
Bought another rim from genuineaudiparts.com which had the best price at the time.

My plan is..
to keep an off season tire/wheel assembly in the car for long trips. I do seasonal changeover. It makes the most sense to me as there is not a space saver tire/wheel assembly made for our car (to my knowledge). I have done this before on other vehicles without a spare (BMW) and it is cheap insurance if you can spare the space in the trunk.
I believe the center hole in the wheel on the below mentioned Mercedes is larger than the hole in the center of the wheel. Not a problem for a short hop home, but I would want to drive my 4000lb car real far like that. It is also my understanding that the new Audi wheel configuration (A5/S5) has the larger "mercedes" hole. I guess you could put a ring in the hole. I also mention this as any of us who are considering the next RS of some sort from Audi will not be able to use the spare we pick up for the current B7RS4 in our new one.

My dealer also suggested carrying...
... a full-size assembly in the trunk. Will buy a rim from them, and a tire from tirerack.com. Just curious: how do you tie down the spare so it wouldn't move around? Thanks a lot, Nicht ein A4.

I couldn't find the right spare tire at genuineaudiparts, but...
... enough people mentioned the website, hence the "empty" link. Sorry if that was misleading. I did say "sources" describing the link, though.
