RS4 vs M3 thread (Video we alll watched)
As an RS4 owner, I am pained to reveal:
The Japanese dirvers, the ones who drove the RS4, the M3, the Fuga, and the Cadillac (why did they even bother to drive drive the Cadillac ?), they had a driver vote at the end, which we did not see in that clip.
They were asked to vote for their favorite car.
They unanimoously voted in favor of the M3 for track performance.
If they had driven on the street, they would have understood.
The RS4 is more pleasurable on the street.
Losers.

True. You can only do so much to battle the laws of physics.
Audi should be commended for the stellar overall handling in their front-heavy design, but there is no doubt that the weight distribution and RWD layout on the M3 will make it more of a pure track car. So what. I'm really not buying this car to be a track car. I'm buying it to actually drive it on the street!!!! If I wanted a better track car, I would have bought the Cayman S, not the RS4. Jeez...it's a four door sedan, and people are surprised that it doesn't dominate over more purposefully built vehicles on a track. My current modified Nissan 350Z is a phenomenal track car. I'm getting the RS4 becausee I want a better street car.

2nd but I think I would get the Lotus Exige and put a turbo kit on it. I drove an Elise in......
Vegas last year and I still want one. The Exige would be my pick on a full time track car.

I suspect its because...
...most race drivers I know prefer to steer the car with the throttle...another words, they like the RWD platform because that's what powers more race cars than any other drivetrain configuration.
No one can argue that the RS4 suffers from mild understeer at turn in and requires some adjustment to compensate for the push.

Bob you are funny even if technically you are writing from beyond the grave. LOL. However...
I still think that the M3's real rival from Audi should be the S4 and that the RS4 should compete with the M3 CSL.
Just an opinion.

You know guys.. this is kind of ridiculous...
If you want a track 'scalpel' you're not going to buy an RS4. If you want a four door that's a fun road monster in the spring, summer, and fall... and with snow tires will go beyond the pale in a Northeast winter... you buy Quattro.
There is no comparison.
