Seat height
I searched the site but no luck on discussions about the driver's seat height. I am 6' and would prefer a slightly lower position for the seat. I had an A6 4.2 in which the seat would get low enough for me. Seating height in other German cars of mine also gets or got lower than that of the RS4.
Is there any way to do a modification that preserves the structural integrity of the driver's seat mounts? I am thinking that one inch lower would be sufficient, althoug a bit more might be optimal.

Yeah, it is a problem.
Deleting the sunroof is an option on the RS4 for people like us.
Theoretically you can have 1" of foam removed from the seat cushion. Any decent upholstery shop will do that. I am not aware of any B6 or B7 S4/RS4 drivers have done that. B5 S4 driver has done that successfully. I think his name was David Dohnalik if you want to search.
I am going to have this surgery performed on my next S4, when and if I get it.

have you tried using the tilt adjustment to tilt the seat back?
i like the seat all the way down also, and tilted back. i can get the RS4 seat how i like it, but never could in the B5 S4. as Tomasz said, others have removed some of the seat padding from the B5 seats to get a slightly lower seating position.

Using the tilt adjustment to tilt the seat back helps, but is not optimal for me.
I am a bit surprised that more have not found the driver's position to be sub-optimal. It is likely that the European seats are lower, which may explain why Audi did not modify the assembly more for the US version of the RS4. I realize that they would have had to spend a too much to do certification for the European seats here.
