...offering a free t-shirt to someone spending $5K (both front &amp; rear brake kits) is a little bit insulting, especially when considering they're giving you free advertising by wearing the shirt.

it's not the t-shirt that will cause people to buy their products, it's the 10% discount. The t-shirt is just one of those things where your product arrives at your door, you open the package and you see a free t-shirt and think it's your lucky day. It doesn't entice you to buy the product but in some odd way, it makes you feel special. similar to the way a dealeship puts a free CD in your car when you come to pick it up for the first time. it doesn't make you want to buy the car but it makes you feel special (thats happen to me twice).

now if they gave me a free extra set of brake pads....THAT would be a nice gift, and appropriate given the total amount of the sale. keep in mind, the mark-up on these parts is probably 100%.

I agree it's not that much. Maybe I just don't care because I am one of those "grateful for whatever I get" people. If one chooses to buy brakes they should not expect to get something else but be grateful if they do, for whatever it may be. My $.2.
