Style package
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Phantom black RS4 Avant, with the Audi rings painted black.....Has anyone seen the new "Piano Black" style interior package in the flesh? I have to choose between the carbon fibre inlays and the piano black - any thoughts? Also does anyone know if the seat backs will scuff easily?

It grows on you...
as I found comparing a couple RS4s, one with carbon, one with piano black. In favor of the piano black is that it really makes the machined aluminum shifter stand out. Also, it matches the "liquid black" look of the instrument bezels and the black inlays on the pedals. Makes the cockpit feel more serious than the CF. Red instruments and the multitude of red lights stand out more against the piano black. After sitting a while in a piano black car, the CF may seem a little too flashy.

If the piano black is the same as my car (A4), I personally would prefer the Carbon Fibre inlays...
For me the Carbon Fibre is sportier, more in character with the car especially the RS. Again it is a very personal choice. You should really try to see both sets of inlays before you buy if you are uncomfortable with the CF.

Re: Piano Black Closeup
It looks a little less shiny in your pic than on the Audi web site, but it's probably the lighting. Thanks for the pics, it's tough to choose without seeing the real thing.....

PB door pic closeup

in case this helps here's a closeup of the door trim in piano black. Although it doesn't show up in the pics, there's a very fine metallic sparkle embedded in the piano black, a bit how with a Phantom Black car looks flat until you get really close, or get it in the right light.
