For those that have driven, torque question...
I am waiting for the delivery of my RS4, hoping to get to drive one at SOT. I wanted to find out about the RS4 street drivability.
Specifically, how much do you have to rev it up before you start to feel it pull? With my 911 I thought it was great as a day to day, and around town driver because I felt it pulled from real low down in the power band, and had power no matter the revs This is in contrast to my M3 which felt better suited for the track than the street because to me it always felt like you had to really rev it up to about 5500 before it felt like it was starting to pull. I was wondering which the RS4 felt closer to from those that already own one, or have driven one.
Thanks.

It pulls everywhere including down low..
It doesn't have the torque feel of a turbo just a very linear and strong power delivery across the board IMO. I see what you mean about the differences between the 911 and M3, but those are both 6 cylinder engines that need to rev to perform. The RS loves to rev as well, but its displacement advantage helps it down low. It is much more of a HP engine over a torque engine, but there is no lack of power down low. I found it to be very driveable and responsive at lower speeds. The engine is very flexible and impressive..you won't be disappointed! Don't worry!

you can try it today. :-)

I tried and felt RS4 B7 light and sophisticated when driving in the city and on the highway up to 100mph, not so torqueful compared to RS4B5 with ECU mod, though.
The torque was not so ample or exciting as B5RS4 when boost pressure was increased but sufficient at any time when we wish.
We can download many docs and pics in RS246 downloads section (link at the bottom).
I read torque/horsepower curves in Audi RS4 B7 Launch Information as follows:
290Nm@1000rpm
370Nm@2000rpm
405Nm@2500-4000rpm
430Nm@5600rpm maximum
410Nm@7000rpm
370Nm@8000rpm
Gear ratio 2nd 2.211:1 and final drive 4.111:1
S4 B7 torque as follows:
290Nm@1000rpm
340Nm@2000rpm
400Nm@3000rpm
Gear ratio 2nd 2.050:1 and final drive 3.889:1
The engine is not so different in low rev compared to S4B7.
Thanks to gear ratio, you may feel torque a little stronger than S4B7 at low rev, and you can try it with S4B7 at your Audi dealer.

http://www.rs246.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file =index&req=viewsdownload&sid=12</a
</u

I believe this first pic in the link inside is the best ever. it was my desktop for years.
Rob Fox made it in MOTO PERSONA.
The shop was closed in 2004, and almost no pics are left except some in the link.

Check out this video
This video, which I think was taken at the SOT event in NY last weekend, shows that the RS4 has plenty of grunt at low revs. You'll make quite a name for yourself driving it around town like this. :-)
