On U.S. RS4s what does the "S" button do?
Some say it only opens the exhaust up on the US models (it sure does that)
The Euro model apparently tightens the seat bolsters (non-US seats), opens the exhaust, tightens the suspension and recalibrates the ecu when the "S" button is hit.
My dealer and the Audi website say different things (though the Audi site mixes Euro and US specs all over)
Thanks.
Well, maybe it does something...it remaps the throttle response and opens a valve in the exhaust system for a bit better flow.
In a drive by wire car like the RS4, the S button allows the computer to see higher voltage inputs earlier on essentially "tricking" the car into adding more fuel earlier.
Translated to English: the car will respond to throttle inputs sooner and more aggressively. What does this feel like to drivers? It makes the throttle feel more responsive.
It does NOTHING to the seats and NOTHING to the suspension.
I'm so accustomed to driving like this, each and every single time I get in the car, I turn off the traction control and turn the S button on.
