no way...
I know RS4 is not the fastest of the bunch (eg. E55, M5, etc) but that's pretty big gap. That M5 can't be that much faster with the exhaust and cat....
Also, if that's the case...RS4 will get killed by the new M5 because I saw a race between modded older M5 vs. the new M5 and that was pretty much the case....

The RS4 is not competing with any M5, either new or old. It is competing with the upcoming M3. The new M5 is about $20,000 more than the RS4.
In the video, from a standstill, the RS4 got a sizeable jump. I'm curious to know at what speed the M5 begns to pull ahead. It looks like only at or near triple digit speed. Not unexpected at all. Stock hp on the M5 is 400 and it is modded to about 430. As speed rises, Audi's AWD become's it's achilles heel in terms of straight line performance. Now.....run on wet pavement.

the older M5 has got to be lighter right? No AWD components, and probably a much lighter interior 
I agree that the RS4 doesn't compete with the M5 head on. However many people are cross shopping these cars because they're what's currently available.
And like the old M5, the new one will fall to the RS4 until about 100mph, from all accounts.
So what? Who is buying their RS4 here to be able to beat M5s past 100mph?
I bought my car because I love its (in no particular order) styling, interior, handling, AQD, power and sound. There is nothing that competes with those factors.
It's nice to have bragging rights, but they will always be eclipsed (eventually).

I know...
I like the RS4 simply because it's an uderstated car...I guess the Audi brand itself is understated compare to Mercedes or BMW...it may not be the fastest but I def love the RS4. Most people who can afford the RS4 can also afford M5's...and most people will opt for M5 or E55. This being said, my reason for getting the RS4.."never follow" lol.
