Default Well, The RS4 is officially my daily Driver........

That is right. On the way back up to CT this early am I hit a patch of black ice without any warning whatsoever. Doing about 70 mph coming over the elevated new bridge in Bridgeport. Travelling a little slower than the average vehicle. All of a sudden, the rear end slides out and I am on the downslope of the bridge sliding sideways at 70mph....Crashed right into a concrete barrier near head-on....The truck held up well, though the front end is crushed back about 2 feet to the point of the front wheels...the front frame is crushed up, and perhaps the motor mounts....I bought it cash, and sure as hell hope they total it....

Going to cancel the order for my European steering wheel, as I am certain the airbag saved me one hell of a headache, if not my life.

I wonder if I would have been better in the Audi, ESP Winter Dunlops and all. Though i certainly would have been going faster.

A few hundred yards up from me was another pileup, and closer to my home in Mystic 3 teens were tragically killed....

Counting my blessings, and realizing things are not so bad. I'm alive, relatively uninjured, and am now forced to drive my RS4 everyday....

Glad to hear you are OK. Good luck with insurance goons.

Default Steve, glad to hear you're okay

I saw that ice outside my house this morning on my driveway about an hour before leaving for the airport. It was wicked bad. I hope you're doing okay, and don't forget to monitor that back and your muscles. Might be a good idea to schedule a good massage.

Default glad you're ok... glad you have seen the ligh on the airbag issue.

They with out any question decrease risk of injury and death. The data is quite conclusive - any intentional removal / limiting of these is just plain crazy. There are a few (very few) legitimate rasons to deactive a airbag - but a cooler steering wheel isn't one of them.

Default I always have the RS4 or Tacoma dilemma on snow days

The RS4 is safer and handles far better, but I'm always afraid it will get sand-blasted or crashed into by someone. The Tacoma has no traction control but it would be no big deal if somebody crashed into it.

Sorry that you crashed your truck.

Default I agree but the Euro wheel airbag should theoretically work, although it has never been tested

in a US RS4. I thought about making the switch but was originally put off by the potential airbag issues. Now, I just like the controls on the US steering wheel.

Default I too suffer from the dilemma.....

I have a Honda Pilot, but I just love driving the RS4 so much that most of the time I take it regardless of weather. Although, I must say, if it is really mucky out, I take the Pilot. Still, we should recognize that the RS4 is a car to be driven, and also a car designed with colder climates in mind. It is not meant to be a fair weather garage queen, as exclusive as it is.

I'm glad sparkhill is okay, and things like this do put life into perspective, for sure. I often wonder if the car could have saved me sometimes when I see winter accidents. Anyway, for what it's worth, you know in the Audi, with snow tires, you have one of the the most capable winter vehicles on the planet.

Default if we could get the wheel from the new TT & switch the logo you could have the best

of both worlds perhaps ? Airbag might still be an issue.

Default Agreed the the RS4 is far too capable to be a winter garage queen

and (fortunately for me) it was sillyboy that crashed not me.
