Winter Car Washing
What's the best way to wash your car in the winter. I do not feel comfortable going to any old car wash, but I also don't feel like freezing outside washing my car in 30 degree weather. I live in the North East, and drive into NYC regularly which has gotten my car pretty dirty. Any tips, or do I just buck up and wash the car in the freezing cold?

All my cars got washed once a week and if the weather was too cold I use
either the touchless drive through - for the really bad windy cold mfer days or the hand spray self wash wands. I keep my cars ten years and never had a issue with the paint on any of my cars over the decades

That's hardcore Reggie, I feel like I should go outside right....
now and wash my car. The problem for me is that it's 19F and the water from the hose will freeze. I think I shut the outside water line off too...haha
Somewhat skeptical about the ONR. My car has a nice layer of dust/dirt on it, not sure how ONR will do with extremely dirty cars. I think I'll just suck it up and wait until it gets to the mid 30's to wash my car.

wait until it is slightly above freezing, and use a coin-op place with hot water
thorough spray with soap, bring an elbow-length chemical glove and use a wash mit with one hand, thorough rinse including undercarriage and wheel wells, pressure-rinse the wheels to remove most of the grime. usually i'll leave the car running w/heated seat on "6" and climatronic at 85 so it stays warm enough to keep the water from freezing. *very* quickly chamois it dry then jump inside and defrost.
when it gets really dirty and the weather stays cold, i pay my detailer $20 to do a quick wash/vacuum & spray wax. takes him 25min in his heated shop.

What would you like to know? It's a wash product / method that doesn't require a hose...
You make a solution of ONR and water and work panel-by-panel wiping with the ONR solution and a wash mitt and then drying that panel right away. I can do the entire car with 2 gal. of ONR mix in a bucket, a wash mitt, a bucket with 2 gal of clean water and a couple of good MF towels.
It lets me wash all winter in my garage and if you are careful you really wind up with very little water on the floor. Is it a replacement for a proper outdoor wash in the arm months... no... but for me to get through the winter it is indispensable.
You can pick it up from Phil at Detailer's Domain.
You can also check out youtube for some videos on the stuff and how the application works.

Hers is what I use

Spray it on, let it sit, wipe it off. Comes with very soft deep pile cloths and works on even moderately soiled vehicles with no scratching whatsoever. I wouldn't use it to get off caked on mud or salt however without a good water rinse first.
