Default Winter Wheels Question

I am 95% certain I am going to purchase the RS4. I currently have an S4 with a beautiful set of 17" winter wheels with WinterSport M3s mounted on them (BTW, great winter tire).

Will the 17" wheels fit the RS4? This is not a deciding factor for me, but want to know if I should be looking to sell the wheels to fellow S4 owners from the other board.

Default Re: Winter Wheels Question

Hey there 2audis4u,

I've inquired the dealership and a few tire stores around the area - they told me that even regular 18" wheels don't fit the B7 RS4 because of [mainly] the brakes and the fenders..

So - apparently - only the OEM 19" or specially designed 18" [17" also? too small?] will fit this machine.

Again - I didn't do much research and this is - so far - all the information I received.. thought it might help.

Anyone else who went through this experience might be able to share more..

I have found no 17's that fit. Tire Rack has 18s and so does Hartman

Default I stayed with the stock 19's and 255/35VR-19 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires.

So far, they are very good, although I realize that the 19's are less than optimal in snow more than a couple of inches deep. The tire compound and tread pattern work very well in icy and very cold conditions with a bit of snow, which is all that we have had in Boston so far. Problem is that I could not find the right wheels in a pattern I liked a month ago, although that may have changed by now.

Default 18 x 7.5's Wheels with 225/45 -18's

Tirerack offers this size setup as a Winter Package. I was apprehensive over whether they'd fill up the wheel wells, but they look great, and are reasonably priced...

Default Answers to your questions......

No 17" wheel will clear the brakes

Some 18" wheels will clear, but certainly not all. There is an 18" wheel option for the car from Audi, but wheels look pretty lame and heavy.

Best bet....get a second set of stock wheels and mount Dunlop Winter Sport 3D in stock size.

Default B7 RS4 section is now up on Achtuning.com with wheel choices

Our Hartmann wheels for the B7 RS4 are all listed there, many will require spacers to fit over the RS4 brakes, those that need spacers are listed with (spacers needed) in the main description. There are 2 wheel choices that do not require spacers (RS6-172 and RS4-131). Tire choices are listed at the top to differentiate wheel widths between winter tire choices (skinnier) and summer tire choices (wider).
