WORLD record for shortest clutch life.................16 miles
we just had this family buy they're 17 year old our White '08 RS4. to me that is NOT love, but that's another story. kid obliterated the clutch in 16 whopping miles. the "i was just driving along" doesn't go very far with Audi when the bell housing looks like a big bowl of Kellogs Corn Flakes colored black. my guess is a lack of knowledge between a "1" and a "3", which is sad. thought i'd share the sacriledge

Did that once myself... but also saw someone go about 14 on a new car
mine was second gear burn out with 8" wide slicks on a brand new clutch.. still should have held but it didn't oh well 600 bucks down the drain...
But when I was working at a vw dealer someone left with a jetta and didn't even make it 2 blocks before the clutch let go.
Chances are it was a defective disk on this car you mentioned here not someones driving.. only thing you could to a clutch driver error that quickly is glaze it.. if you are seeing material coming out of the bell housing it had a bad disk.. not driver error.
Seen that plenty of times.. actually B7 2.0ts were dropping clutches alot a year back.. must have had a bad batch of disks.

my guess is he rested his foot on it while romping on the gas and thought it was normal....
otherwise he'd have smelled it (or should have) and stopped? maybe?
stupid fvcking parents, either way you slice it.
