Default How's the RS4 power at altitude?

Does the RS4 noticably lose a lot more power than the S4?

Default Yeah the RS at @ 7,000 feet lacks power. I picked the car up in MN...

and it was noticably faster down there. I am praying for cold weather so that it will return to the glory of higher O2 saturation in the air. Anyways, I think this car will really excel in the snow/ice, hence the main reason why I bought this car over many other choices. The B5 S4 is a little faster than my car here but it is stage 2+ so it does have some modding done to it.

Default Good to know. I have been struggling with the idea of replacing my B5 S4 with a B7 RS4.

As nice as a car as the RS4 is sounds like its not going to do it for me power wise. With my car being far above a stage 2+ B5 its disappointing to hear the RS4 is not quite as fast. Whats more important to me is the torque, can you tell me what the torque feels like in your friends car rather than your RS4?

Default remember this is at 7000 feet...

It's my avant that ran against him. I'm actually stg2 (giac w/ awe dual), not 2+ but the altitude really hurts the RS up here. I didn't anticipate the extent of it but the engine is severely air deprived. I'll be interested to log it up here and down in denver to get a better idea what's really going on. At sea level the RS is a complete beast and would be faster than a stg2 b5s4 on pump. Obviously a stg3 b5 is night and day.

I really like the linear pull of the RS. It doesn't fall flat on it's face towards the top of the rpm band like my car tends to do and it continually accelerates all the way up to redline. With that said, if you are a torque junky do not buy an RS4. It's sneaky fast not in your face ko4'd s4 fast...two completely different cars that really can't really be compared since one's a torque monster and the other high end horsepower crazy.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions...

Default yeah, I am a torque junky. I admit it. The best thing for me may be to keep my S4 and buy a 2.0t A3

when the quattro version comes out. thanks for the info.
