mirror caps were plastic and not aluminum. I thought the B6's came with real metal mirror caps and then they switched to plastic for the B7's.

It's actually a very thin film of metal over the top of the plastic
But like Bergey said...sometime through 04 they started doing that. But some 05 owners have claimed all metal housings also IIRC

I went to the Taste of Lexus event at Weymouth Airforce Base Saturday and after driving....
an IS350 my A4 3.0 felt slower than slow. So I decided to check out a B6 S4 at a local dealer. I noticed it had the plastic mirror caps which caught my attention since the ones I bought for my A4 are aluminum.
