2006 RS4 vs 2006 modded S4
What are people's opinions, is it worth dishing out the money for an RS4 or can you easily get the same power out of the S4 with a few mods ? I hear the old S4's were easy to modify, making the RS4 pretty pointless, except for the warranty.
Is there anything I would be missing with the S4? I hear there is some additional upgraded BS with the RS4 such as the brakes, etc. but nothing you couldn't do aftermarket.
What is the consensus ?

Check the B7 S4 forum a few days back. Long thread about this there
A few points:
RS4 has dynamic suspension. I can't imagine an aftermarket company producing something comparable with spending big $.
I believe the RS4 chassis has been signficantly stiffened (someone correct me if I am wrong) as well.
As you mentioned, the previous gen S4 was very upgradeable but that was predominantly due to be FI. Gains aren't coming as easy with the NA V8

J/K In my opinion the RS4 is not going to be worth the money. The horse power difference between the two is really not worth what 30k extra?? For those who buy one the only thing they can hope for is that the resale value stays as high as the RS6's have. Good luck.

My guess is that the RS4 would still put a whooping on a "Stage III" B6 S4...
Reasons: Still more hp, probably 20 to 30 more. The RS4 weighs less by at least 150lbs. So, the beating wouldn't be severe, but you would be watching RS4 taillights by the middle of second gear.

The RS4 will be sweet. If it were so easy to get the same power out of the S4, then everyone would be doing it. Whether its worth it or not...if you have the money hell yes it is worth it. It will pretty much do everything the S4 will do, but maybe a little better. I sure as hell wouldnt turn one down.
Its like buying a 911 C2 or a GT3...both are sweet cars, but spending a little more for the GT buys you something just a little sweeter, if that is what you want.
Everything in the mags about the RS4 seems to be speculation, or the mags dont know what they are talking about because each story has been different. The numbers coming from Audi speak for themselves, more HP, more torque, high revving V8....sign me up!
