Acetone is a highly active, resin dissolving solvent. It is excellent for dissolving polyesters, softening & swelling rubber seals and gaskets and is on the DEA drug precursor list. It also is a common component is solvent paint strippers.
My vote, go ahead and gum up your lines, deposit the resin in your fuel injectors and "clean" your paint around your gas cap.
Enjoy what octane boost you get for the few seconds and have your souvenir mechanical issues as a remembrance.
