Default Advanced Audi/VW - bad review and question

I had good luck with advanced audi and VM in san francisco when I went in for my 60k service. Though they used some cheaper transmission fluid that caused problems, they had no problems swapping it out with stock fluid for free after I complained.

2 of my friends went there on my recommendation, and there's been a bad of bad news from their visits. I want them to do some more work on my car, but I think we're about to rule them as having bad bussiness ethics - but you tell me.

First off, during my friend's visit for a car service, they charged him for changing the brake fluid. However, 3k miles later when he went to another shop to have brake work done, they found that the brake fluid was filthy and had never been changed.

Another friend when there for serive, and was quite happy that they found the source of a rattle that the dealer couldn't find. However, they charged him 2 hours of service to swap out the coolant temperature sensor -- something that I did myself in 5 minutes in the parking lot of the dealer when my sensor went bad.

The only other bad comment was that they charged me $25/spark plug when they did my service -- do plugs cost that much?

Would you still trust these people?

They sound shady to me. First of all they shouldn't put anything cheap in a performance car. They already lost my trust. I would never go back after that so i don't know why you sent your friend's there.

Default I highly doubt you swapped out your coolant temp sensor at the dealer lot. Apparently you're

impervious to burns.

Default Once you catch them charging you or your friend for work they didn't perform, how can you ever trust

them to do anything ever again? Stuff can get overlooked and missed due to scheduling, etc within the service dept, but if you went back and they refused to do anything about it (like refund your $) then I would skip unless you have no other choice and then you have to verify all the work done by them - PITA.

Screw them. Find another shop, one of the benefits of capitalism. ;-)
