Any feedback on AmD chip upgrade and Milltek exhausts for S4?
I am soon to take delivery of my S4 Saloon and am interested in taking it to AmD for the Stage 3 treatment which entails re-mapped chip, new sports cats from Milltek and sports exhaust.
I am simply after torque and power increases and not more noise (or indeed a different look to the tailpipes but I will have to ask them about that). However, I realise a little extra noise is bound to happen and that is fine ;-)
If any of you have experience with this upgrade I would be extremely grateful to have your feedback. And even if there is no direct experience of the kit I would love any comments on the quality of AmD's work.
You can find a link to the kit I am talking about at below

S4 Upgrade - see stage 3 pack at top of page

I've had the chip in my Avant for over a month now and love it!...
Throttle response is amazing, as well as additional power throughout the range. I'm planning on taking some dynos in the next couple weeks to verify their claims of 40hp, and will be sharing with everyone here on the board. Regarding AMD, quality is fantastic (although we're just talking about a 1/4" x 1" computer chip), as is their service. They have a long history in the UK and recently just opened a shop in NJ. BTW - you will have to send your ECU to NJ for 1 day for them to remove your chip, send the codes to the UK for scrambling, and mount the scrambler for the new chip. Web site is AMDtechnikusa.com. Ask for RAM.

Few questions:
What's the cost of the chip?
Can you purchase WITH a new ECU so it can be swapped out when going to the dealer (is that even necessary? With my current chip in an S4 turbo, I spend the 5 minutes to swap out before service).
Where in the US can you purchase? My new S4 should be here in a few weeks so I'm interested.
Can it live on 91 octane?
Does anyone know if swapping out ECU in the B6 is as easy as the B5?
TIA

I have spoken with RAM@AmD several times and....
the chip need 93 to perform optimaly. Swapping ECU's is not as easy as it used to be becuase of Imobilizer III. If you worried about Warrenty issues your dealer will already know you have a spare ECU because they will have to code it to your car for you.
