Default Any idea what's the story with this: paint defect? someone trying to hide something?

Anyone here have an idea of what is the cause of this. I noticed it for the first time a few days ago, and I finally got around to photographing it. Here is a pic and links to more pics.

Is it a paint defect? If so, how come only those few sections appear affected?

Did someone try to hide something? It kind of looks like touch up paint, applied not very well to say the least. If so, I think the airprot valet people may have some questions to answer.

Any other ideas? Anyone experienced this before? Thanks in advance for any sugesstions/help.

Default Thanks! Now, do you think it is "orange peeling" because it was touched up recently...

or was this something that happened at the factory? Thanks again for the input.

Only spray painting could produce an orange peel effect. Doesn't look factory imo...

Default looks like.....

someone got a little carried away with a buffer and it heated up the plastic which causes the paint to liquify.

What do you make (if anything) of the peeling/marks at the various spots? Still a buffer mishap?

Default Sometimes they touch up at the port

I had an 98 A4 with pearl paint. When I went to trade it in for a BMW they told me there was extendsive paintwork done to the car. I was told by my Audi dealer that it was probably done at the port. I was furious because - of course I got screwed at the trade in. Spoke to a lawyer & he said it would cost me more time & aggravation than it was worth - (i was also in the middle of a divorce) Dealer also said that they are not informed when a car has been repaired like that - total BS -
