Default Anyone know if S4 will be getting Paddle Shifters?

Ok I've only done a quick search in this forum for this answer and didn't find anything.

So I apologize in advance if this has already been answered, but does anyone know if Audi will be offering some sort of SMG like paddle shifter in the S4? If so when do you know? I know Audi will be offering this option in the 3.0 TT later this year or next.

Tiptronic sucks and I've driven my buddy's M3 SMGII and its pretty good, its a lot smoother then the 355 and 360 F1. I need to get this option because my wife doesn't know how to drive a stick. If this option is available I would get a S4 Avant.

TIA

Default Whether or not it has paddles... (It will be Tiptronic paddles - not sequencial paddles)...

ie just as slow as the buttons on the steering wheel.

PS what you are looking for is Audi's DSG. But that is to be first introduced on the Audi TT 3.2 DSG. No word on that making way to the S4 at all.

Default Take this with a grain of salt..........

Was told by the dealer DSG will be a late release option on the S4. Take it for what it is worth. :-/

BTW, I have a Tip, and got it b/c my wife couldn't drive a stick, but now I wish I would have got the stick and just taught her how to drive it. After she tore the tranny up it would have been a good reason to upgrade. Oh well.

This is a rumor, but a rumor that is most likely to be true. I have heard it from 3 sources that are normally very reliable. But I heard as an optioin on the 05's.

Default My Predictions....

DSG and MMI in 05. Now people are going to flame me for my predictions but...... I don't see them developing a connection for XM/Sirus for Nav+ and there is no indication they are working on that feature, however it is in MMI. But how would MMI be an option is the only part I am having trouble grasping myself since it replaces so many parts of the car that it wont need now. I am not saying they are not going to develop a version of Nav+ to support XM but why would you put an older technology into a new car and have to engineer new parts for the existing system. Companies have done dumber things so this is only a prediction. However expect to pay ~1000-2000 extra on top of the std nav price. Anyone else have any ideas?

Default Duh, you're right I forgot about that...

Nav+ doesn't run the Sat radio, I completely over looked that. And right again that MMI controls to much of the car and would more or less prob be too costly to develop for the B6.

My guess would be no map nav on US bound A4/S4s till the B7. When they'd have to make a new system for the car anyway.

Thanks for reminding me of that point.

No I definitely wouldn't pay money to put the old technology in the car. And also if I got Nav+ I'd then lose the function of the Sat radio I don't even want but will have paid 1700 bucks for.

PS ... Do you have to pay monthly for Sat radio ?

I do not believe any sat radio is included. You have to buy the option which is 350 port installed and then the service which is around 10 bucks a month. We might see MMI on B6 S4's but you probably will not see it in A4's till B7 if at all (this might be a S car, A6, A8, Allroad option). Anyone know if MMI has been suggested in a TT?
