I think you are right. Can't handle the torque

Default He's right...

no brake mid corner and no gas until exit! Might seem slower but the track times don't lie!

Not only that... but the fact that braking and gear changing can unsettle the car.

Default If we're talking racetracks, ya. But lets face it, most M3 SMG owners will neve track their car

I also think that most people are willing to shift mid corner when leaving their local shopping mall.

Default This is why there needs to be a test to buy a performance car...

it's not just for the name.. i hate geezers driving the cars like women (no offense), just because they got the cash to afford it. Go buy a Merc that's nice and pimp and loaded and drive it around... leave the S4s and M3s to real drivers that can't afford it :P

(such as myself hehe)

Default Just a note, the Buggati Veyron will have a twin clutch set up...

And since Buggati is also a VW brand, I'd imagine they are pretty similar in their operation. As the Veyron will have something like 1000hp, the technology is there to handle the new S4's torque. The more important issue in this case is that the gearbox for the transversly mounted, Haldex electronic AWD equipped engine is incopatible with the longitudally mounted, quattro mechanical (torsen) AWD engine layout (or at least I think so).

I'd wager that the new S4 would have the DSG if Audi wanted it to.

Default IT's like ANY transmission - torque rating is dependent on application

The original use of this tranny was in cars with 400+hp. It will also be used in the Bugatti Veryon and Audi RSR as well. It's not like the Tip in the S4 is the same as that in the Passat although they share the same architecture. This whole issue reminds me of those who based the Haldex as not being able to handle much torque although it can handle 2000NM.

Oh and yes - a variation of the DSG will be offered in the B6 S4.........
