Default Comments after a few days of ownership

I've got a few days of driving under my belt and figured I should post some of my initial thoughts. I took delivery 10-30-03 my previous car was an A6 2.7T MT6 with an APR chip. I've been an Audi owner and poster on this forum since 1996.

Dislikes:
1. No oil temp gauge, this should be mandatory in any car that might see track time.
2. Mandatory 3 blink turn signal, 2 blinks if you hold it but can't get just a single blink
3. Cramped back seat but that was to be expected coming from an A6.
4. A $50,000 plus car should have controls on the steering wheel as standard equip. A $150 option? Come on!
5. They forgot my XM receiver!

Likes:
1. Better steering feel even though I had my 605 relay removed in my A6, handling obviously much better than my A6 PST Pkg (17"BBS sport suspension 235/45/17 PZero Neros)
2.The engine/exhaust sound is beautiful, I've read it gets better as mileage increases.
3. Ah...Finally some easy wheels to clean. My BBS RC wheels were a PITA and I couldn't get the sponge on the stick behind the calipers. The 18" Avus wheels are very easy to clean and the inside wheel is easy to reach.
4. A full size 18" Avus wheel/tire for the spare...in case of any curb rash down the road I can throw that one on. This was a nice surprise.
5. Seats are very supportive and feel great.
6. $3230 off MSRP! It would have never happened at even a $1000 off or without Audi early lease turn in letter. Thanks AoA!

Overall, Nice ride! My chipped A6 ran 13.5's and I know this one is supposed to run the same but the turbo surge in the 2.7T certainly makes my old car feel faster on the butt dyno. Handling and braking are MUCH better in this car. My old A6 didn't have anything to prove and it was nice to beat up on that Z28 if the occasion arises, talk about stealth. But the S4 seems to me like it has something to prove... as far as other drivers are concerned, at least this is my impression so far and to an extent my 911 got the same vibe. I think others aspire to give an S4 a shot whereas my A6 would go by and they wouldn't give it a second thought. It ain't all about racing I know but lets face it that's what this car's raison d'etre is all about. And when enthusiasts see that S4 badge on the rear they want a second look. Can't wait until my break-in miles are complete so I can see what it's all about. But so far I'm one happy camper!

Default Sounds good! Just wait until your miles start climbing..

what a world of difference in the car since I first got it. The engine is so damn poweful, and the exhaust...OMG...it's amazing. It's definitely louder then it was when I first got it. Also, the clutch has definitely started to grab easier while still staying nice and soft. I like it...
Congrats! Enjoy your new baby! :-)

I agree with you:
50k car ... no multi function buttons? even my Golf got multi!!
50K car (for my country spec anyway) no heated seats.. again my golf got heated seats~
Butt dyno says Bi turbo is faster, but when you put them together..... the V8 is defaintely quicker, after I install the AMD kit... it is like. M5 engine in the M3 plus quattro's grip !! Ultimate.

not yet running, car will arrive January, but have the AMD stuff all sorted out. Had associate drive the S4 AMD car.

Basically, the increase is up to around 400hp (the highest they have seen is 415), it uses the variable timing to achieve this figure (bit like tuning a V-tec engine, but you don't feel the drop in power before the hike, because you have 4.2L to create the torque to cover that)

He commented on the car "3rd and 4th gear change puts the tuned S4 in a different league" It is basically N/A tuned RS4 if you want to call it that way.

If you have any questions feel free to email me cyuen@audisport.co.nz I will be visiting AMD in a couple of weeks time, and will hopefully try out the S4 "R" !!!
