Is this a crazy idea?
I have an S4 cab and the RS4 is on the short list of vehicles I'd replace it with. I was bummed that the RS4 cab wouldn't be coming to the U.S., but not too badly since I probably wouldn't be able to afford it anyway.
So I started wondering the other day if it would be feasible to swap for an RS4 engine...well, basically to do an entire upgrade to RS4 specs. I'm thinking that would be a pretty interesting way to (sort of) get an RS4 cab in the U.S. I suppose the alternative is to buy an RS4 and cut the roof off, which somehow just doesn't seem like a good idea.
Any thoughts? I talked to lawong last night, who basically told me that this was a nutty, cost prohibitive idea, and that if I did anything, I should just try to upgrade my existing engine and other components to RS4 specs.
On the other hand, maybe I should just wait for that supercharger. It should be here any time now, right?

Supercharger is a great idea. Go for it. It's been on the 2 week waiting list for 3 years...lol.
It has 2 chances of appearing...slim and none.

Why not just trade the S4 cab and the $30k (+/-) that you'd spend on the engine and get a 911S cab?
Or if you insist on AWD even though you have no good reason for it, a C4S cab, or a slightly used 996 Turbo cab?
I'd cut the roof off a RS4 before I tried to swap everything to a B6.
But really, I'd do neither and just trade it in.
