Did you know...
The S4 nameplate resurfaced in 1997 as a sportier version of the A4 sedan. An S4 Avant station wagon joined it two years later. At the time, it was not only the fastest four-door Audi produced, it was one of the quickest sedans available, with its turbocharged V6 engine able to propel the car to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Again, the quattro AWD system came standard.
The vehicle was redesigned in 2003, at which time it gained a V8 engine and a convertible version called the S4 Cabriolet. The current model was introduced in 2005.
