I have posted before about my dilema in deciding against the new S4 for an X5 4.4.

I currently have a 2000 S4 which has been broken into 6x when I lived in NJ.

The dilema I face is the fact that I may move back to NJ from CA, where I am now. If I do, will I have the same problem with my new S4. I just put a refundable deposit down on a black one, which will be in the dealership in 3 weeks. I have to decide in a month whether or not I am willing to face the fact that I may have problems again with my S4 being broken into.

Can people share some thoughts on this. It's been stated that the 2000 S4 has NO immobilizer and Audi corrected that problem in the 2001, 2002 and now 2004 S4's.

I refuse to go through with buying the new S4 if I am going to live in Manhatten or right outside Manhatten in NJ, and have to go through the same problems again. The easy solution is a different alarm but I would be leasing the vehicle therefore an alarm on a car which I wont have after 39 months is pointless.

If you live in NJ, you know how bad this problem of stolen S4's was/is. I am not sure if it has cooled down at all but will it be a problem with the new S4?
