The S4 is limited to about 5k car/yr and most owners will either not be interested or not want to void warranty. But, some will be interested enough to do it. I would think that the market for the SC is small and the R&D cost, high. I guess as the B6s start getting to the end of the Audi warranty limitation, owners MIGHT be more likely to install a SC. Also some may buy a used S4 as prices plummet and install the SC as a RS4 beater. What does anyone think.

Default Seems like there could be a market if the price is low enough IE under 10K

But with the high prices of the current supercharger from MTM it may not be likely. Kinda like the supercharger from the new E60 545 from Alpina way to much money. IMO. And you are right the number sold would be low. I hope the US car tuners do not read this and just suck up the RD cost. .

Default I beleive there will be one....

eventually, but I don't think there is a rush due to the many S4 owners who are under lease/warranty and don't want to mess that up with the install of a SC. The market will become better for one in a year imho....

If there is one going to be out, I will throw one on my S the minute that my warranty is up, but I really want to wait to see what all the companies come out with (AWE/PES/APR) as I don't want to jump at the first one that comes ontot he market..

Default I give it a low probability

And if it does come out, I think it'll sell in small numbers. There are so few S4s on the road and only a very small percentage of them will opt for this mod.

I still think there has to be a serious technical challenge related to this motor, because it has taken way too long to get this thing developed. But who knows.

Default I suppose it also depends on the longevity of our motor in future models.

By which I mean the rear chain 4.2 since I would expect there to be a number of differences in a SC designed for the other Audi V8's.

Personally, while I like the idea of a SC, I doubt that I will do. If I did, I too would wait until the warranty ends. Even if parts and labor come out to $10k, to me that's quite an investment in a $50k car with 50k miles. I think I would just put that money towards a new vehicle and not have to worry about the existing 50k miles of wear and tear on the rest of the vehicle. My .02.

Personal disclaimer, my 1991 Ducati 851 has more motor work than I care to mention and it will never be as fast as a modern Ducati so the above logic towards cars is refuted in my motorcycle : )

Default Challenges...

1. Dual stage intake
2. Adequate cooling. The belly pan intercooler planned may not cool the charge enough to keep this high compression monster from detonation.

But both can be overcome. The intake will just take some ingenuity and the boost pressure can't be very high. I have faith that a SC will be released but I'm skeptical on the higher boost version at 500 hp.

Default I think you may be shortchanging the market.. I know MTM has sold at least a dozen of their SC

and theirs costs at least 19000 euros.. not to mention the 30000 euro version which I think they have slod more of than the cheaper one. When I asked him yesterday how many they had sold and he told me 15-20 I almost choked. I had no diea there were that many people out there with S4's willing to void the warranty and with the money to throw down on this mod. If you ask me their system is waaaaaaay too expensive, but there are definately people willing to pay that much.
