Engine Oil Sensor warning question?
I have a B6 S4 Sedan with 53K miles on it and the engine oil sensor warning just appeared on my dashboard. I just had an oil change done less than 700 miles ago, so I took it to my independent Audi shop and was told they did a diagnostic on the car and the results are the engine oil sensor. They told me they would replace the sensor when they do the next oil change simply because of the location of the sensor. They tried to get the warning signal removed and the computer won't allow my mechanic to do so. My questions are:
Should I have them replaced the sensor even when the engine oil was just replaced? Or is the oil sensor located where I can replace it myself and just buy the part?
I appreciate your comments.

Best,
if that is the case you need to drain all the oil to change it as it sits at the bottom of the oil pan, give it a couple of days and may clear by it self, otherwise is up to you to do it now or wait till next oil change

I decided to wait until I do the next oil change in about 1400 miles and we'll take care of it.

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
Now, I have $480 in parts/diagnosis/tax charges from the dealer, $110 in parts charges from europaparts, and my own labor changing the sensor twice and checking every fuse and cleaning the wire connected first with brake cleaner and then a second time with electrical parts cleaner..
And I thank whomever posted the correct part number on that genuine audi website. indeed it is the correct part number. But i could not for the life of me find that through a general search on that exact site. Without someone providing the part number for me, i'd be stuck.
ps.. here is the part i bought that does NOT work on my particular b7 S4

It's not common but not a rare sensor failure.. starts as interminent. easy fix when oil is drained on an allroad. no rush. wait till the next OCI. keep checking the oil, but you do that any way.
