Turns out that the A/C system was overcharged with Freon. The extra internal pressure of having too much Freon onboard was forcing the overtemp switch to activate prematurely. The front bumper was replaced last winter and apparently the body shop had to discharge the A/C in the process. They (the body shop) also did a poor detailing job, too. They almost ruined the paint.

I had them fix the detail job earlier and now they'll be paying for my dealership's work. What a waste of everyone's time.

Note to self: The S4 still is as rock solid as I always thought it to be. Oh yeah, and stay away from the local bodyshop.
