Default Finally fixed erratic volume changing by itself

The first thing I noticed about my car after I bought it was the radio volume would go up and down by itself with slight increase or decrease of throttle. After much research, I found out this is a Bose Audio Pilot problem and that the hidden microphone in the overhead console area was too sensitive. This is especially a problem with a louder exhaust(like mine, AWE non-res). At 35mph or so, you could drastically change the volume just by putting a load on the engine, either by throttle or just going up a slight grade while in a higher gear. Once you released the load or throttle, it would drastically drop off. Another example of when this happens is when I would be decelerating using the engine compression, as the exhaust got louder as the engine winded down, the volume would shoot up, then when I came to a stop, it would cut way back. This is not speed related, it is internal cabin noise related, and supposedly the Bose compensates at the frequency of the perceived noise. This drove me nuts! Anyway, there is a TSB for this, I believe it only affects us B6's. I told the dealer that I wanted this TSB done, I even printed it out and took it with me to be sure. It took about 2 hours and now I can listen to the stereo again! Anyone with this problem should get this mod done! They disable the Audio Pilot, and re-enable the speed sensitive volume, which can then be shut off if desired. The TSB is Group 91; Number 04-17. You can do it yourself with the jumper wire kit from Audi and someone with a VAG.

Default I did the de-audiopilot mod earlier this week

It looks like one of the previous owners either did the mod and un-did it at some point or they started but could not finish it.

My audiopilot was so bad that I could not drive with the windows down. It didn't know how to respond to the wind and dropped the volume all the way down.

Did you also disable SCV on the head unit? That step is not listed in the PDF for the TSB, AFAIK.

I havn't had it long enough to discover the window down problem yet, weather just getting nice here. I drove all the way home before checking the SVC, which was on 3 and was unnoticeable, but I did turn it off.

Leave it to Bose to fix something that wasn't broke!

Default Yup. I really do need to do something better with the sound in general...

The Bose in my Infiniti is 10X better than in the S4. Beautiful deep lows and powerful.
