Firmware Hack / Aftermarket NAV+ TV/Video Possible?
I was reading through the navigation manual a few days ago and kept reading remarks talking about TV control through the NAV+ unit.
I know it's illegal in the US to have video running infront of the driver, but not so in Europe.
I was wondering if you think there will be a firmware hack / or aftermarket solution for US consumers? Maybe even something to accept video signals...
Anyone have any info on the european version with TV/Video of our NAV units?

The US unit has not been confirmed to support any kind of video input
So far only the European units have been confirmed to support video in, either through the (European) OEM TV tuner or through 3rd party video adapters. Do you have a US unit/manual which actually mentions video-in or TV-in capabilities?
There are rumors that a software update will allow watching DVD from the internal drive. But this applies only to the European unit. No word on any software update for the US units.

In the A3/A4 the SAT Receiver is actually using the CDC port
shared with the CD changer. The CDC audio is routed through the SAT receiver and it's controlled through the CDC pins in the HU. The SAT receiver is controlled via CAN. The TV in motion hack via VAG-COM requires the OEM TV tuner and a special login, so far there is no report that TV (or video) in motion works without the OEM TV tuner. In theory there should be no conflicts with the TV tuner since they are on different ports. However, the US unit does not have a TV option to select, and the EU unit does not have a SAT option. AFAIK, the RNS-E does actually support a plain RGB video source, no need to deal with MOST fibres.
There are some guys trying to get the "C" version of the OEM TV tuner (the only version which works with the RNS-E) and some others are getting the Dietz video adapter. We will see if any of the two options will work with the US units.
This all is only for the A3/A4/Allroad RNS-E. The A6/A8 MMI systems are modular CAN/MOST connected devices and work completely different.
