Why would the dealer suspect a chip?
Isn't the point of a flash of the ECU in the car that it is supposed to go undetected.
I'd say there's no point in just chipping or flashing a car. I got GIAC from Momentum Tuning with an intake & exhaust and didn't notice any change. Throttle response might be slightly better but I'd like to drive a stock car again for comparison.
My APR downpipes will go on soon & then I'll get re-flashed with the "downpipe" program they were talking about last time I was at Momentum. Then maybe I'll notice a difference, but even then it'll be small. Once everything is done, the car is expected to be 380 hp vs. stock 340 hp.

10-12, but you def feel it, STFA majority agrees. Also since it tweaks the the throttle issues a bit
its a good mod for the $$
if anything dropping 400 on the intake is less power productive then the flash

My dealer (Danbury Audi) threatened me once...
when I brought the car in for a problem... first thing they asked was if I had a chip or not. They said that if they found I had a chip I'd be paying the repair bill.
I guess that's enough to make me never want one until the warranty is up. But that's 20,000 miles away.

My stock 2005 S4 got GIAC flashed and now it's back to stock.
What way is better? Still trying to figure it out but my first impressions back to stock is that the car feels more torquey at 3k rpm. The needle doesn't climb as fast so although the car feels like it's pulling harder I can't imagine that it is actually gaining more ground. I would say that stock performance is still very good.
If you flash the car you will notice a better throttle response, faster needle climbs and a nicer sound. The car revs up to redline a lot easier than it does when it is stock but it doesn't seem to have that pinned to your seat feeling.

We stated development earlier this week....
We will be looking for beta testers shortly after the new year.
Audi did do a fantastic job, I will stick by my guns on that one....But if there are enough hardware changes (exhuast, downpipe, intake of some sort), custom tuning can really bring these cars to life.
We are very excited about this results so far.
