Has anyone ever used one of those devices that sucks the used oil up through the dipstick tube?

I know, I know. Those pumps are to oil changes what flowbees are to haircuts. However, with the location of the oil filter on the engine, I could see doing intermittent, i.e. between scheduled service, oil changes without even getting under the car.

What do you think?

Default I'd be too worried something would fall or get sucked DOWN into the pan.

But a very interesting idea nonetheless. A shop vac with a add-on tool could probably do it too. ;-)

I use it on my boat and it seems to work fine.

Mercedes techs use them to change oil at the dealer.

Default I have one I use at work.

My only advice is to make sure the oil temp is hot or else it will take forever.

Default I have one from Griot's Garage - works great. Used it to do a bazillion oil changes on my old S4 too

You never have to worry about replacing the crush washer too.....

Default Filter, too?

Did you also change the filter when you changed the oil every time? Just curious.

Will the one from Griot's Garage hold the over two gallons that we discard every oil change?
