I never liked the chrome trim or the grey slats on teh grill from the get-go, especially on my black car. In fact, if I could black out the chrome around the windows, I would. Frankly, I wish Audi had trimmed out the S4 Ultrasport. The Ultrasport Avant is much sportier looking, with the mesh grill (instead of slates) and the black trim everywhere.

how many layers did you put on?
Did you put any sealent or something on it?
I'm not a painter, so I'm curious if there is a way to paint the blacked out grill (grey grill w/ black trim), to a black color that actually lasts and looks good for a time.
Since ECS doesn't have a black grille/black trim lower(just upper), I figure I'll just get the ones that are grey grill/black trim, see if I like how it looks, then perhaps paint it black.
Called them up today, and they said they would be getting a matte black lower to match the upper, in "a couple weeks".
Don't feel like waiting lol

Here are some pics. They have other options, but these two are matched to each other.
I spoke to one of ECS's guys. He confirmed that the slats on the "satin black" upper grill are "blacker." Th eproblem is they do not have, and do not plan to have a matched "satin black" lower grill. So I got the two that match. At $250.00 I think this will be a very nice cosmetic upgrade.
Here is the lower grill - $139.95.

and the upper grill for $89.95

The problem is your lower grill will not match. See my post below.
If you leave the OEM lower grill you will have chrome trim with grey slats on, and black/black on top. IMO, that will look like ***.
If you get the satin top and Euro black bottom, you will top will be gloss black trim and black slats, bottom will be black trim and dark grey slats.
The guy I spoke to at ECS agreed the way to go is macthed "Euro blackout" upper and lower for the matched look.
