M3 vs RS6
The M3 gets ahead of the twin-turbo 4.2 V8 to 200km/h (125mph). How on earth is the NA V8 going to keep up?

M3 vs RS6

Contrary to popular belief, Audi guys don't go driving around all day looking for bimmers to race...
We like a fast car as much as the next guy, but I have a feeling that most Audi drivers considered much more than just who has the faster car, when making their purchase.

And then again some don't :P
I think the thing about Audi is that it's different.. and cheaper than BMW. So when you go with Audi you give some things up and get some things too (Quattro namely). But everybody wants the whole package which neither BMW or Audi offer. BMW comes closer though, imho, only because their AWD isn't a necessity (I'm anti-AWD hehe), and their cars are generally more powerful.

2 years and 15,000 euros more expensive? lame.
Audi had a clear goal to shoot for: stomping the M3 into the ground. If the twin-turbo, 450HP, 86,500 Euro RS6 can't soundly thrash the NA, 333 HP, 51,000 Euro E46 M3 two years after it was released, there's no way that the NA 4.2L V8 in the admittedly lighter B6 S4 is going to do it.
There are plenty of reasons OTHER than acceleration to buy an S4 instead of an M3.
1) You want a sedan.
2) You want more room.
3) You want Quattro.
4) You want more standard features at a lower cost and more options at a lower cost.
5) You want a less expensive car.
6) You want better interior fit and finish and/or like the B6 styling more than the E46 styling.
Believe it or not, the M3 actually is a pretty damned fast car that handles exceptionally well. BMW sacrificed things to do this -- things that Audi did not sacrifice. See items 1-3 on the list above for reference. They're two different cars, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. Sorry, but the B6 S4 isn't just magically going to "have it all" for less than an M3.
