Default Memory Seats

The memory seats on my car almost never work, and before you accuse me of doing something wrong - the mirrors take the memory settings, but not the seats themselves. Too lazy to take the car to the dealer till the 15K service. Does anyone have any ideas? (other than the obvious "take it to the dealer" comment)

Default They're moody.

I just gave up on the seat-memory-with-remote feature, but the basic memory function usually works. If I remember correctly, the instructions in the manual are needlessly complex...try this: just hold down MEM and a seat number at the same time (for about three seconds). That does the trick for me. Not sure if it matters, but make sure the key is turned to the "on" position; car doesn't have to be running. Also, make sure the red "OFF" button is not turned on...lol, funny but true.

Doesn't work for me either in remote or using the button. As I said, the mirrors hold the memory position and work in both modes, so I'm sure I'm doing it right. I had an A6 a few years ago, and they worked fine.

* sorry could not resist*
and i have the opposite problem....my seats hold mem but the mirrors don't.

However I just found the mirror setting for backing up to a curb and the pass. mirror looks down. I'm sure all of you knew that...:P

I gave up on mine as well. I spent about an hour mucking with it one day and couldn't make it work.

Default Re: Memory Seats

Take it to the dealer. It's a pretty quick job. I had the same problem as you. I spend numerous hours trying to figure out what was wrong. It turned out that the memory modele was not working so they replaced it. And now it works perfect. =)

Default Followed instructions here, works great, seat & mirrors programmed for each key

My wife and I both drive the S4, and each of our keys is programmed with our individual seat and mirror positions.

It usually works great, but I admit every so often the mirrors seem to "forget" to move; I think, but cannot say for sure, that the mirrors do not adjust positions if they're folded in...
