My dealer was officially told that the RS4 will be here by....
Spring of 2006. It will be the new facelift, but they're unsure of which power plant they're using. The dealership had reps in from Germany the day I visited and they were talking about the new offerings. A3 to come in fall of 2005, but no RS3 slated for USA yet.
The Le Mans rally team will also be visiting the delaership in July for Audi enthusiasts to chat to them.

it was going to use a Maserati V8 or a Cogsworth V8 both 4 valves and FSI...
hoever now that the deal went sour with maserati from the sounds of it. It will probably be just the cogsworth engine from the RS6 with a hell of a lot of tuning or the v8 from the s4 with less valves and FSI + tuning. Only time will tell. I dont see if having any kind of forced induction.

If it's "only" a 420hp/~310 lb-ft V8 but still weighs 3900 lbs., that's not so interesting IMO.
It will be too heavy to be really any good on a racetrack and with a high HP to torque ratio, it won't be real good at the stop light grand prix either -- I doubt it would run any faster than a 13.0-13.1 in the 1/4 in magazine testing. Plus, AoA will probably have the gall to ask $70k for it. Yeaaaahhhhh, riiiight. Under 120mph, a 3600 lb., 350hp/~380 lb-ft Stage II+ B5 S4 would probably hang with it.

Thats why it won't weigh 3900 lbs....
I bet Audi will shave about 300 pounds off that. Drilled Rotors, Aluminum Body Panels. Ceramic Clutch and Pressure plates, all aluminum suspension. They might even make and aluminum cast Transfer Case...but it will certainly be lighter weight since they cant use the Mas V8 n e more. look for an FSI 4.2 Version of what they have now, with a new exahaust, aggressive fuel management and throttle timing, and 4 valves.
