?? was at my dealer and saw an RS4 avant
it was the B5 model but did not have the big fenders it was just pretty normal looking. except for the RS4 badges f&r and on the steering wheel. Had euro bumpers also. Is this an early model?

Not sure what you mean by Euro bumpers...
The RS4 had it's own front and rear bumpers, and none were US Spec, so by default they were all Euro bumpers.
The Euro S4 bumpers are a bit shorter than US spec bumpers...and we can get them in the US from parts suppliers that get Euro parts and bring them in (Achtuning). Not a big deal really.
If the fenders (front and rear) weren't flared, it's not an RS4, it's an S4. If they are flared...yes, pop under the hood and have a closer look. If the connecting pipe to the throttle body (remove top center engine cover) is metal, odds are good it's an RS4. If it's rubber (of any kind) it's an S4). Brakes are also much larger than the 320mm on the S4 (I think the RS4 got something in the neighborhood of 355...large enough that you would notice the difference). Larger brakes in the rear of the RS4 too. Once again, you would notice compared to the tiny S4 brakes.

when I say euro bumpers
they are shorter than ours in the states. they do not have the shocks. I really am thinking it is a B5 S4 I will also look on the dash in the tack area and see what it says

apparently there are only four true B5RS4s in the US, actuning has one and some guy in CO had three
and sold one. They would have the wide body kit, there is a B5 in NY with the full body conversion (sedan not avant), look in the COI pics in the NY/NJ/CT forum its got a CF hood and IForged wheels. VERY fast car. Oh and the true RS4s gor for about $125k still.
