Skip the CPO. Not worth it. Have the car checked by a good mechanic.

Default Wrong!

i've had 3 Audi, B5 S4, B6 S4, and B6 A4 3.0, i still have all 3 and their repair costs have all significantly exceeded the extra cost of CPO. It has been well worth it.

One significant repair covers the difference.

For awhile I drove an A8 and bought an extended warranty and they paid nearly 3x in repairs over the cost of the policy.

Default In most cases, it is not worth it. You got lucky.

Do a search. The CPO'd cars are rarely given the once over by the dealer, and needed repairs are not completed prior to getting the CPO stamp.

There have been many sotries of issues with "CPO'd" cars.

Just like most extended warranties, they are not worth the extra cost.

This has been covered numerous times here, and in Consumer Reports.

You are much better off by having paying a good mechanic to go over the car before purchasing.

I purchased my '04 S4 for $38500 loaded, in '05. I paid $200 for a mechanic to go through the car, and he only found one small issue. A CPO'd loaded from the dealer, would have cost over $45K at the time.

I have had zero issues with the car, though I do know how to work on them.

Default I 3rd hyperionguy, My CPO warranty has already covered 3k+ in items, with more to come!

A mechanic inspection can't tell when the AC unit is going to stop working one day, or another common problem on this car is going to creep up..

Default I prefer the term: "Suckermouth"

Unless you have the Cabelas special edition.
