Default New S4 owner..... Clicking Noise from Front right Of Suspension

Hello all, Im new to the board and have recently upgraded from the A4 to S4 and am extremely happy. The S4 has been treating me well lately but I have noticed a slight clicking noise coming from the front right wheel well area while turning into parking spots... The noise makes a ticking noise almost as if it pebbles were being dropped on a metal sheet. Further more, this noise is only audible while my windows are down and I am driving between 5-25 MPH. In addition, while the car is on and I apply the brake at stand still and turn my steering wheel from far left to far right I do not notice any clicking noises. Any input on this would be a huge help....

I have also noticed no oil spray from the CV boots and have ensured my Lug nuts are all secure... I was thinking it could be the brake caliper clips..... again any help would be appreciated.

JD

Sounds like it might need a wheel bearing or an CV joint. A clicking noise when pulling in and out of parking space was a common problem on the D3 A8s and I usually would do the bearing, but it may also CV joint.... Need to check it to see if your outer CV boots are ripped, then check the axles for play... If they are good, then it needs a bearing.

Thanks for the reply... I jacked up my car earlier today and check the outer CV boots for damage/rips and noticed nothing... I also checked to ensure the proper amount of play was there with both front end axles... Further if the outer CV boots were ripped wouldn't their be oil spray inside the rim?

Could be your brakes. They tend to chatter when the pads get a little worn
