New summer shoes - Michelin PS2s or Goodyear F1s???
Gonna get the 5-spoke Hartmann RS6 reps with some performance rubber. I thought I'd decided on the Michelin PS2s but I've heard horror stories about rapid wear. The F1s look good but are spec'd as being a heavier tire. Recommendations?

I just read a long-term test of an EVO in C&D. They switched from Yoko Advan to Eagle F1's and
...did not like the Goodyears very much. They said grip was lower (went from .96g to .92g on the skidpad, IIRC), and the ride was much more coarse on the Goodyears, but the treadlife appeared to be good. Summed it up by saying switching from the Yokohamas was a mistake.

I just picked up the RS4 reps with the F1's from Achtuning.
First off, the Hartmann wheels are far nicer than I had imagined and pictures do not do the 19's justice. They properly fill out the wheel wells and are on par or better quality than the oem Avus. The car looks and feels like it should have out of the box.
I chose the F1's partially based on Wes' review and others I found online. Simply stated, I'm very happy I listened. The F1's are considerably quieter and better handling than the Conti's in both the wet and dry. They also look the part for a high performance car with the unique tread design. I can't compare against the PS2's (which also review well) but I was able to get the F1's for roughly $70 less per tire so that counts for something.
Achtuning did a great job and Josh and his crew are a first class group. There was an issue with the special order on my F1's and Josh managed to get them overnighted for a Friday install. It was much appreciated.
Anyway, you'll be happy all around with either tire imo and the wheels rock!

Follow this link for a comparison of max perf tires:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=MP
The Tire Rack lists the 235-40-18 Pilot Sport 2 for $222 per tire for the Porsche OE replacement and the same size tire in a slightly higher load rating at $237 (this is the tire you would get that is recommended for the B6 S4). In fact the load rating for the Porsche spec'd tire exceeds the recommended load rating for S4. So, save yourself $60 and get a tire with exceptional handling characteristics and probably the quietest of the max performance tires.
I've used the following on my B6 S4:
Conti - OE - Sucked
Bridgestone - S0-3 - Outstanding grip and turn-in initially, but very noisy after 5,000 miles
BF Goodrich T/A KDW-2 - Exceptional dry grip, great turn-in, but noisy and harsh riding
Michelin Pilot Sport 2 - Best overall performer I've tried. Outstanding grip, turn-in and quietest
