Default Somebody watched The O'Reilly Factor last night...

as did I, but Bill was dead on. In fact, is this you Billy O? You are quoting him almost exactly. The merger of those two companies is devastating to the population as a whole.

Default My point is the numbers simply do not add up.... the increase in gas prices FAR exceeds the slowing

of oil production and refining. There is a term for that. It's called price gouging.

Default Re: Take 20 - 25% of our gas refining capacity offline

True, but you also don't have other characteristics involved in the basic economics model. Consumers don't have other options. Sure, we can drive a little less or take public transit, but for most, this isn't a viable alternative.

Default when katrina struck..gas went up immediately. Now, barrel price decreasing.. refineries up 98%

saudis agree to pump 500,000 more barrels per day..and gas outside my window has only gone down a few cents over the past few weeks. If our governor hadnt put a stay on the sales tax, our gas would still be close to $3.00.

Default Well, considering I work in an industry (rubber products) that is reliant on oil as an ingredient. .

and members of my family work for a local natural gas utility (one of them in gas supply), I think I have a little better outlook on what is actually happening on the spot market for oil and gas. And I'm talking about the wholesale, non-consumer oil markets.

If you want to blame anyone/thing, point the finger at (your choice): speculators, China, India.
