Owner's Manual on Break-in
Could someone who owns a B6 S4 check their owner's manual and see if it says something like this under the break-in section:
- Do not use full throttle.
I don't recall if my old owner's manual said that or not.

From Page 230 of the 04 owners manual:
NEW Engine
The engine needs to be run-in during the first 1000 miles(1500km)
For the first 600 miles(1000km)
-Do not use full throttle
-do not drive faster than3/4 of the top speed marked on the speedometer
-Avoid high engine speed
From 600 to 1000 miles(1000 to 1500km)
-speeds can gradually(in italics) be increaced to the maximum permissible road or engine speed.
During and after the break in period
- Do not rev the engine to high speeds when it is cold. This applies whether the transmission is in N(neutral) or in gear
After the break in
- Do nopt exceede the max engine speed under any circumstance
-Upshift into the next gear before(in italics)reaching the red area of the tachometer scale> page14
(In smaller print)
during the first few hours of driving, the engine's internal friction is higher than later when all the moving parts have been broken in. How well this break-in process is done depends to a considerable extent on the way the vehicle is driven during the first 1000 miles(1500 km)
Extremely high engine speeds are automatically reduced. However, these RPM-limits were programmed for a well run-in,not a new engine.
