parking lights stay on after parking in my garage - in auto mode and key in ignition - solution?
I have discovered when I have the lights in auto mode and park my car in my garage the only way the parking lights will turn off is if I remove the key from ignition. I would prefer to just leave the key in the ignition and as well as enjoy the benefits of always having the lights set to the auto mode. Short of simply not using the auto mode or if I do than simply taking the key out every time - is there a solution to my very insignificant predicament? thanks

You leave your keys in the ignition when you park the car in the garage?
Take them out and put the right back in. It should rest the mechanism in the lock cylinder and your keys will be in your car. Not sure if it will work however. I never leave my keys in my car.
Good luck.

You inadvertantly left the turn signal on.
I had this happen when I first got mine. Go out and try it for yourself. Put the turn signal on and turn of the ignition. Your parking lights will stay on until the battery runs down. It was explained to me that it is a european thing?

taking the key out then right back in works - I was just hoping there might be a VAG code fix or..?
I'm sure I will adjust to the new routine its just that in previous cars I have always just shut the engine off (as well turn the lights off) and walked inside the house. thanks

Glad to help...
I have a VAG and I've never heard of any sort of change like that. I wouldn't think that it would be possible anyway as I think it is a physical switch rather then anything software driven. When you remove the key slowly you can hear it click.
Sounds easy to just leave the key; I'm just scared someone might get in my garage! I do leave it unlocked however.
Have a good day.

Not really
It's a feature for most people. Imagine you drive and park (outside of garage). Since the car doesn't know where you parked, it's considered a safety feature that the lights are on. If you however remove the keys, it must assume that you parked at a safe place before leaving.
I have not met anyone who leaves the key in the car in the garage - not that there's anything wrong with it, just interesting =)
