Default Poll (sortof) RE: Fuel "additives"

Here are a few, simple, close-ended questions:

1) Do you use fuel additives?
*If "no," skip 2 - 4
2) Do you notice a change in operation when using the additive?
3) Which additive do you use?
4) With what frequency do you use the additive?

Sorry so structured, it's the teacher in me coming out! Thanks

Redline S1 every 5-10 tanks. Just to keep the engine clean; maintenance

Default Well do you count a tank of 100 as a fuel addative :-)

I let a tank of 100 run its course from time to time, sure does clean things out.

Default Ah, the joys of our old friend. . . . .Toluene. Not just for turbocar breffus anymore....

Occasionally have used Techron, Gumout, Seafoam with varying degrees of success, for different reasons.

Seafoam had the most dramatic effect on carbon buildup, to which the 5-valve heads are more prone.

For Octane changes:<ul><li><a href="http://www.elektro.com/~audi/audi/toluene.html">Fun with aromatics.....YMMV</a></li></ul>

Default The 100 octane does nothing to clean your engine. Slightly better performance yes, cleaning no. In..

fact, some actually contain less detergents than regular ole' 91-93/94 octane. Use some Techron or S1 every few thousand miles. BMW and MB has recognized that even the best north american fuels lead to deposits and should be complemented w/ a good fuel system additive.

Default Techron every 5K miles

Techron is highly regarded by the oil companies.

Using a major brand gasoline will already come with a good additive package. Using a "pour-in" additive, like Techron, is really a safety factor just to ensure that the intake system and injectors stay clean.

I haven't noticed any change after using but I have never had intake or injector problems either.
